Reflection
The use of technology has enabled teachers to become much more creative with their instruction. They also have the opportunity to add audio and video to instructional materials to address the learning styles of different types of learners and to add interest. Students who are interested in the material presented will visit the material more frequently and extend learning beyond the classroom. Also, using different types of assessment will allow students to display what they learn in different ways. Technology allows teachers to quickly and easily create varied types of assessments.
The artifacts chosen for this standard reflect those characteristics and are linked below. The Wix website and the Emaze presentation both incorporate digital tools to promote learning and creativity, stimulate student curiosity, and address different learning styles. The Scoop.it! page offers students resources to continue and manage their own learning. The assessments created with Rubistar and Easy Test Maker offer different types of asseesments for learners. All of these artifacts were created for use with 5th grade students.
Future Learning Goals
Standard II
Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments
Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the Standards.
Technology has changed the way that students learn and their expectations of their teachers. No longer are textbooks the expected method of delivery for instructional material. Teachers today are expected to engage their students by integrating multimedia tools and experiences into their daily curriculum. I plan to continue to provide my students with materials like the Emaze presentation, Wix website, and the Scoop.it! feed to promote learning. I will create different types of assesments like
the ones created with Easy Test Maker and Rubistar for traditional paper assessments as well as to assess assignments that students will create using multimedia tools. By providing different types of instruction delivery such as the Emaze presentation, website, and Scoop.it! feed, students can explore their own interests related to the material presented. Using multimedia tools such as these will allow me to adapt materials as well as my assessments to best serve my learners and their different learning styles.
