Reflection
Standard V focuses on professional growth and leadership. Technology provides teachers many opportunities to make connections to their personal and professional communities in addition to the opportunity to continue their own professional growth. It discusses teachers improving their professional practices and showing leadership by promoting and demonstrating the use of digital tools and resources.
The artifacts I have chosen for Standard V are linked below and include two tutorials that I created for teachers in my district for software that we use. One is a Screenr video that demonstrates how to use some features of Study Island, and the other is a web tutorial for Activclassroom created with Dream Weaver. The document in these artifacts is a summary of a meeting of the BYOD committe of which I am a member for my school district. Lastly, there is a photograph from MECA to demonstrate participation in learning about existing and emerging digital tools and resources to promote student and professional learning. All of these artifacts demonstrate my own professional growth and leadership.
Future Learning Goals
Standard V
Engage in professional growth and leadership
Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources.
a. Participate in local and global learning communities to explore creative
In order for educators to be informed of the latest trends in education, it is important to participate in professional growth and extend that growth by displaying leadership for his or her colleagues. My future goal is to continue attending professional conferences and workshops such as MECA and bring what I learn back to my colleagues. I plan to continue using technology in my instruction as well as using it to
create training materials like the Screenr and Dreamworks projects for my coworkers. I will continue serving on committees such as the Bring Your Own Device Committee to help make decisions about the future of technology in my school district.
